Biochemistry & general tests

What information do biochemistry tests provide?

Measuring substances such as glucose, certain electrolytes, proteins, and markers related to the liver and kidneys can help a physician assess the body’s condition and monitor treatment. The choice of tests depends on the medical question and each person’s circumstances; not all of these tests need to be performed for every patient.

Before visiting Parse

Provide the names of your tests or your prescription to reception so they can check whether the tests can be performed and explain the sample-collection requirements. Obtain preparation instructions for the specific tests requested; there is no single set of instructions for all biochemistry tests. The time when the results will be ready is also specified at reception.

After receiving the results

Review the results with the requesting physician, together with your medical records and clinical information. A single number alone is not a complete description of your health status.
