Two groups of tests addressing different questions
A complete blood count, or CBC, provides information about red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and measures such as hemoglobin. Coagulation tests, such as PT, examine aspects of the blood-clotting process. The physician determines which test is needed based on the reason for the visit.
When arranging your tests
Tell the Parse laboratory reception staff the exact names of the tests and the physician’s instructions. Ask about preparation, the sample-collection time, and when the results for the requested tests will be available; do not apply the conditions for one test to all tests in this section.
Reading the results
Results should be considered alongside medical history, symptoms, and other medical findings. An index falling outside the reference range, by itself, is not a diagnosis of disease.
