Hormones & immunology

The exact test name is the starting point

In the Hormones and Immunology section, the type of testing is determined by the physician’s request. For example, a TSH test helps assess thyroid function, but its result may need to be considered alongside other tests. The general title “hormone test” is not sufficient to determine all visit requirements.

Coordinating your visit

Tell reception the names of the tests listed on the prescription and any instructions from the physician about when they should be performed. If your test requires specific timing or preparation, obtain the instructions for that test. You can also ask about the expected result time and whether each test can be performed before your visit.

Following up on the result

For interpretation of the result and decisions about continuing evaluation or treatment, contact the physician who requested the test.
